Its been 25 years since the first dot com domain name was registered, today on March 15th 1985 and was Symbolics.com, a US computer maker. Few people had noticed dot com domain until the mid 1990’s and other giants were too slow to register their own such as Apple.
Today dot com forms an important part for the approx 1.6 billion internet users world wide. Although the computer company went out of business, the domain was sold to a company that registers domain names.
Its been quite a journey and sometimes I wish I was in 1990 and if so I would have registered awesome names such as sex.com and sold it later for a couple of million bucks!
One thing is for sure, Symbolics.com is going to be hit pretty good today!
