google-carsWe had reported earlier about Google’s ambitious automated car that drives itself! Google has been experimenting and rather successfully a modified Toyota Prius that drives itself. Google says that with this technology there will be fewer accidents and lesser traffic congestion as cars will talk to each other and communicate.

Google has seven test cars that have driven 1,000 miles without human intervention and more than 140,000 miles with only occasional human control. One even drove itself down Lombard Street in San Francisco which is one of the steepest and curviest streets in the nation. The only accident, engineers said, was when one Google car was rear-ended while stopped at a traffic light.

We have a couple of videos for you that will show you how it feels to drive the car and to be inside of one. The first video shows the car zipping across the lot with Google programming it to do so.

The second video is from inside the car which shows the steering wheel moving all by itself, interesting!

No word on how soon we will see these cars on the road. Stay tuned for more updates.
