Sit tight, Samsung today unveiled plans for an Android based Galaxy tablet PC at the IFA 2010 consumer electronics show in Berlin in contrast to earlier reports that the tablet will be out by the end of the year.
The tablet is being hinted to be an efficient iPad alternative with a 7 inch Super AMOLED display with Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz UI, a 1.2GHz A8 processor, 16Gb of internal memory which is expandable to 48Gb and the tablet runs the latest Android 2.2 OS also called Froyo.
The Galaxy Tab is also said to have a display resolution of 480×800 and will come with GPS functionality, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and front and rear facing cameras. An edge over the iPad is that it will run JavaScript 1.5 and Adobe Flash Player. This tablet will add to the already increasing Android market.
It is being speculated that the tablet will be offered through Vodafone UK later this fall. There is no information about its availability or pricing for the US yet but analysts say that it will be launched in the US soon after its initial launch in UK.
