Were you one of those who rushed to the Apple store to get the latest 15” and 17” MacBook Pro models? Well then you should have noticed constant system freezes and other issues. Apple hasn’t officially acknowledged the issue but owners of the new MacBook have reported constant freezing and other issues with the new MacBooks and the problem appears to occur when GPU intensive tasks are run which lead to over heating.

Once the problem was found, discussion threads started flowing into the Apple forums where users reported that the fans of the 17” MacBook Pro kicked in and then the system froze. Only a hard reboot could get the machine back. Other users began to complain that the new MacBook Pros would freeze often.

However, without an open acknowledgement Apple has released the Mac OS X 10.6.7 which is targeting a specific version of 2011 MacBook Pros. The update says that it addresses graphics stability among other things.
