Sony introduced the Internet TV line of products that also offer Google TV. These TVs offer not only HD viewing experience but also the much talked about Google TV software which lets your browse Internet on TV along with many other functions including watching Youtube on TV and having your favorite apps on the TV. We had reported about the rumor on pricing of Sony’s Google TV offering and it was reported to be very high. However prices are not as high as the rumor suggested.
Sony is launching four new Internet TV HDTV models all slated to be out by the end of the month. The different models range from 24″, 32″, 40″, and 46″ sizes and all with 1080p native resolution. All the models are packed with Wi-Fi, four HDMI ports and four USB ports. Under the hood the TVs reportedly sport of an unspecified Intel Processor and an RF QWERTY keyboard remote.
Pricing for the models is higher than a similar 1080p HDTV without Google TV built in. The prices start at $599.99 for the 24″ model and $799.99, $999.99 and $1399.99 for the 32″, 40″, and 46″ models respectively. Sony is also said to be launching an Internet TV Blu-ray player that will let users who already have HDTV get Google TV services on their TVs. The device is up for sale for $399.99.
Sony Style and Best Buy are accepting pre-orders for all these products. Sony will have these products in show rooms by October 16. It will be interesting to see if Sony implements Google TV functionality in PS3 updates.
