The iPad apps are surely putting the networks to its test! It is reported that Disney’s ABC television network, which was one of the earliest apps to hit the market, was downloaded 205,000 times and users have streamed over 650,000 episodes.
The app was built by in-house ABC software engineers and took about 5 weeks to get it done as WSJ reports.
After the news that about 450,000 ipad’s were sold by Apple, these numbers about the app being downloaded were well received. ABC slides ads in those streams and with so many views, ad revenues quadrapled.
Modern Family was the episode that was most watched on the iPad launch day on the iPad.
WSJ reported that Disney hopes to pull in additional revenue as the ABC app is a huge hit.
