The 2010 World Green Car of the Year award was awarded to three cars from Volkswagen which used effecient systems to produce power.
The award was given at the 2010 New York International Auto Show for its BlueMotion technology which is offered currently in three models: the Golf, Polo and the Passat.
These cars carry technology that improves efficiency to the car’s engine, transmission, aerodynamics and braking systems effectively lowering the CO2 emissions from the car. VM believes in improving the efficiency of the car and its engine as opposed to using alternative fuels and this is not to say that they are not interested in it.
Some features of Bluemotion technology include a feature thats stops your engine while idling called stop-start system, reduced body drag and improved braking and tires and also regenerative breaking.
