facebook-smartphone

facebook-smartphoneIt is being widely reported that Facebook is working on its own smartphone according to Bloomberg. Facebook is said to be developing two new smartphones with INQ Mobile. Facebook had denied such plans but considering a 500 million user base who update their status over the phone, this seems like a possible market for Facebook.

Bloomberg reported citing anonymous sources that Facebook will be heading into the smartphone market over 2011. Another source revealed that AT&T will carry the phones in the US but no such deal has been made official by any of those ventures. Facebook has approximately 25 percent of its userbase accessing their profiles over mobile devices.

Analysts predict that the new phone would run Google’s Android OS and would provide a ton of Facebook features that other phones lack. No possible names were revealed for the device yet. The phones are expected to hit the market in the first half of 2011 in Europe and in the US.
