lg-optimus-android-acerGoogle earlier this year shared some interesting statistics about the growth rate of its Android mobile platform. Google said at that time that it was adding approximately 400,000 new Android devices are activated every single day. Now a latest report said that the number of activations has grown to 500,000 since then and this comes directly from Andy Rubin who is Google Andorid’s chief.

That’s quite an increase from the 300,000 daily activations that Google announced at the end of 2010. The statistics also reflects growing market and adoption of Google’s mobile platform. Android is seeing a world wide growth rate of about 4.4 percent.

The wide array of hardware vendors adopting Android and shipping the device is a key factor that has contributed to its success. iPhone being available on the Verizon network apparently has caused little or no damage to the Android’s steady growth in the market.
