There is no end, is there? Earlier in July, Apple had announced that it will soon accept new orders for its 12-core Mac Pros. Apple today has started to accept orders for the new 12-core Mac Pros. The configurations that the Mac pro is offered in is simply mind blowing. You have three options to choose from,

  1. $2499 – (Quad Core) One 2.8GHz Quad-Core Nehalem Processor
  2. $3499 – (8-Core) Two 2.4GHz Quad Core Westmere Processors
  3. $4999 – (12-Core) Two 2.66GHz 6-Core Westmere Processors.

Users have more customization options for each of the configurations. Some customizations include faster processors, SSD drive and upgraded ATI Radeon graphics cards.

The Mac Pro configuration is ground breaking. Under the hood it is packed with quad-core and 6-core Intel Xeon processors running at speeds up to 3.33 GHz. These multi-core processors each can share up to 12MB L3 cache which improves efficiency while increasing processing speed.

The Mac Pro also comes with the ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics processor which gives you 1GB of memory while you may customize it to have the ATI Radeon HD 5870 installed which is a faster graphics processor with 1GB of memory.

The 12-core Mac Pros are shipping in 7-10 days.

Engadget reportedly said “We configured ours with a pair of 2.93GHz CPUs, 2x HD 5770 graphics cards, 32GB of memory, 4x 512GB SSDs, and pair of optical drives for $16,249”, so now you know how expensive this can get. Lets just hope Mac pro does nto meet the same fate as the iPhone 4!
