Apple today said that it had no plans to extend SIRI to other iOS devices. Apple said that SIRI will only be available on iPhone 4S and beyond but will not be available on other iOS devices. This was initially reported by Michael Steeber who said that a consumer requested Apple to provide SIRI for other iOS devices to which Apple said, “Engineering has provided the following feedback regarding this issue: Siri only works on iPhone 4S and we currently have no plans to support older devices.”

Siri is an interesting AI feature and has been called a Google Killer. Siri allows iOS device users to actually speak and find information and searches just about anything. The technology essentially applies search algorithms to translate users’ verbal search queries and commands into web searches. Apple acquired Siri in April 2010 and many see this as a way for Apple to enter the search engine market. Google has already issued statements of concern that Siri might be a Google killer and is also looking for ways to sue Apple on that.

Before Apple buying Siri, Siri had secured a total of $24 million in venture financing–investors included Menlo Ventures as well as Li Ka-Shing, the Chinese billionaire who also backed social networking giant Facebook.
