It is being reported that Nokia is in talks with Microsoft to begin producing phones based on Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 platform. Many say that this move would shift Nokia’s strategy and that the company sees it beneficial in working together with Microsoft. Last month Nokia also worked with Microsoft about creating a new line of phones based on Windows 7 OS.
Executives from Nokia’s new management team talked to Microsoft last week over the possibility of supporting the new OS. Interestingly these executives were led by ex-Microsoft executive Stephen Elop.
The news is surprising considering Nokia wanting to market its Symbian ^3 OS. Nokia seems to be finally allowing other firm’s OS onto its devices.
