sumo_wrestler_ipadSumo Wrestlers seem to be adopting latest high-tech gadgets. The governing body of Japan’s sumo wrestling sport is set to distribute Apple’s iPad to all wrestlers. This move is the result of some wrestlers who petitioned the board about their struggle with smaller cell phone keypads due to their gaint hands!

Japan’s 51 “stables” – clubs to where the wrestlers belong to will be getting the Apple iPads which the board believes will improve communication among the wrestlers and make information more easier to access and understand. Association Vice Chairman Mr. Hiroyoshi Murayama said, “We will hand out the newest iPads to all the sumo stables to swiftly communicate what we need to”.

The iPad sells for 48,800 yen in Japan which is about $570. The board said that it had tried to use computers and cell phones to communicate but the wrestlers had found it extremely hard to punch in words and keys with their big hands.

It will be interesting to see what a wrestler would do if it ever was upset over his iPad! 🙂
